Lloyd Banks – H.F.M. 2 (Hunger For More 2)

Artist:Lloyd Banks
Album:H.F.M. 2 (Hunger For More 2)
Release Date:November 22, 2010
Genre:East Coast Hip Hop, Hip Hop
Label:EMI, G-Unit
Producer:50 Cent, Boi-1da, Cardiak, Dready, Eminem, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Kanye West, Lloyd Banks, Prime, Ryan Leslie, Swizz Beatz, Young Seph

As much as I’m a fan of Nicki Minaj and as talented as Kanye West is, my favorite album out of the 3 releases is Hunger For More 2 from the boy Lloyd Banks. All 3 are very much Hip Hop albums but Hip Hop has been on the soft side as of late and Banks just came through and delivered that gritty rap album that was missing from all the releases.

As I’m writing this I’m on my 10th listen of the album, when listening it’s almost nostalgic to that old G-Unit sound we all loved back in 2003. After the less than spectacular performance of his sophomore album Rotten Apple, the G-Unit soldier disappeared from mainstream but since then had been consistently releasing new music on the web and slowly but surely rebuilt his brand.

His dedicated fans stuck with him and he gained news ones through the popular site ThisIs50.com and with release of numerous mixtapes. The hard work eventually paid off when his debut single “Beamer, Benz or Bentley” took off. Banks didn’t waste anytime and decided to strike while the iron was hot with the release of “Any Girl” followed by another monster record “Start It Up.” The 3 singles created new excitement for the Emcee and set him up perfectly for the sequel to his debut classic.

Hunger For More 2 plays through fully with no fillers, there is quite a few features but it wasn’t overkill to a point where it sounds like a posse album. It’s a straight up rap album, hard bars over hard beats. Apart from the radio singles some of the more notable records include “Celebrity,” “Unexplainable,” “Sooner Than Later,” and “Payback (P’s and Q’s)” featuring 50 Cent which is reminiscent of that classic G-Unit sound.

Out of all the November 22, 2010 releases, this is my favorite one. This one goes hard in the whip folks…

Congrats to Banks, this is a great album for a comeback.

I give it 4.3/5, leave your review and ratings below.

Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday Album Review

Artist:Nicki Minaj
Album:Pink Friday
Release Date:November 19, 2010
Genre:Hip Hop, Pop, R&B
Label:Cash Money, Universal Motown, Young Money
Producer:Bangladesh, Drew Money, Kanye West, Papa Justifi, Swizz Beatz, will.i.am

The new Queen has arrived, It’s been almost 10 years since a new female rapper has exploded onto the scene the way Nicki Minaj has, and 7 years since a female rapper has had a number 1 record on Billboards. If you’ve been reading this blog for more than a month then you already know I’m a big co-signer of Nicki Ninaj (borderline obsessed) and just like Drake this site was one of the first to cover her, I”ll try to be unbiased as possible and stick to what’s fact.

It’s easy to say Nicki Minaj is the best female rapper alive at the moment, or that she is the Queen of Hip Hop. It’s easy to say those things because she doesn’t have any competition at the moment. The real question is, how good of a Hip Hop album is Pink Friday?

Lyrically the album is far above average compared to other album releases these days, on songs like “Roman’s Revenge” and “Blazin” she clearly displays that she possesses the lyrical prowess to hang with the likes of Kanye West and Eminem. She also shows off her song making abilities on “Save Me,” the only record on the album that’s considered to be on the R&B side. She then switches gears to the Pop side of things with “Check It Out” featuring will.i.am and still maintains enough Hip Hop for the record to be edgy.

“Dear Old Nicki” was a interesting record which was pretty much a open letter to the old Nicki Minaj, the one that most of her new fans are not aware of. I judge how good a album is by how many songs I skip, how many I play back, and how many times I play the album overall. The only track that didn’t make my favorites list was “I’m The Best” just for the simple fact that I didn’t really like the hook or the beat for that matter, but bars were on point. Apart from that this album has no fillers, it plays right through and the only songs your going to be skipping are the ones that have already been on the radio for months.

I’m already addicted songs like “Moment 4 Life,” “Blazin,” “Roman’s Revenge” and “Fly” and I’ve already played those specific songs back at least 50 times.

I enjoyed the album throughly, and will definitely be playing it for the rest of the year. I’m not sure if I’d label it a classic.

In conclusion this is a solid album from the new Queen of Hip Hop, and like she said you either love it or get over it.

I give it 4/5, leave your reviews and ratings below.

Nicki Minaj Officially Responds to Lil’ Kim

Up until this point Nicki Minaj has been very polite about Lil’ Kim dissing her, she’s called Lil Kim a icon in interviews, showed love on many occasions. Even in this most recent interview with Angie Martinez on Hot 97 VIP Lounge, she said Lil Kim influenced her. That’s before she threw Kim under the bus, I mean way under.

Nicki Says:

[Kim] just really jumped out the window. You gotta be really careful when you pick fights…I think people get me mistaken with a real Barbie. They forget where I’m from. And if I have to [respond], I can and I will. Don’t play with me. It’s one of those moments when you say, ‘Don’t play with me.

I respect you, I love you, I’ve said it in every interview time and time again. And if that’s not good enough [for] you, mama, that’s something deep-rooted in you. You need to get your — something is bothering you inside. That’s your insecurity bothering you. It’s not Nicki Minaj, it would’ve been any girl that started poppin’. She picked a fight with Foxy, then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy, then it was Mrs. Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj! Everytime you in the news, it’s because you gettin’ at somebody! Where is your music? …When I see your name on Billboard, that’s when I’ll respond to you.

Dr. Dre Talks Hanging Up The Mic After Detox:"As Far As Me Going Into The Mic Booth, That Sh*t Is Over"

Is Detox the last dose from the Doctor?
Fans may be eagerly awaiting the release of Detox, but Dr. Dre states that after the long awaited album hits stores; he will no longer be making music as an emcee.
In an interview with XXL, Dr. Dre states that after being in the game for more than 30-years, he's ready to slow down.
"As far as me going into the mic booth, that s**t is over," Dr. Dre said in the interview. "I'm always going to talent scout and try to find new artists to work with. But, yeah, that's it. I don't see myself doing it the way I'm doing it now.”
In addition to talking about hanging up the legendary mic, Dr. Dre also discussed the issue that delayed the release of Detox for so long.
“The only part that has been pushing me back is just the fact that I'm getting older, and certain things to talk about," Dr. Dre continued. "I can incorporate other artists, new artists with this record [Detox], to say some of the things I won't say. It's been a little tussle in that area also, just because of age and being able to identify with the younger audience.”

Jay-Z Picks His Ultimate MC Cypher

T.I. "I'm Sick And Mother F*cking Tired Of Going To Prison"

Straight from his cell at an Arkansas correctional facility, T.I. pens a letter to the world. Tip seems to be in the most vulnerable state that we’ll ever see from him, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, the incarcerated kang is still holding his head and promises to prevail once again. (Props VIBE)

This experience is truly a pain I have never felt before and that’s saying a lot for a nigga who’s been down locked up as many times as I have. I see this as a real ass whoopin’. The kind you don’t just go back outside to play afterwards. You take ya ass to bed and don’t come out of your room until it’s time to go to school. I don’ t know what effect this will have on my life moving forward but I’m certainly sick and mother f*cking tired of going to jail, juve, prison, the pen, correctional facilities or whatever else you want to call it. I’d have been better off doing a 5-10 year bid one time than going in time and time again for days, weeks and months for the last 15 years of my life. Even though it’s been a long road, I’m still standing, barely but nevertheless still standing. At one time I thought my motivation for continuing was for my fans, my partna Philant, my pops, my grandmama, even for the haters or the people I let down. But nah…

Continued after the jump…

I got to do this shit for me!!! I’ll be God damned if I’ve come all this way and made it through so much hell to let it go down like this! F*ck that! If an hour in the dark is worth a second in the sun then pass me my mother f*ckin’ shades cause I’m ready to cash my darkest hours in…ASAP!!! A lot of folks had fathers or father figures in the house to raise them into manhood. I’m not trying to make any excuses for my situation but my father was a hustler that lived in New York. My uncle was a local big time dope boy turned 10 year federal inmate. My mother and grandparents did the best they could but I found my manhood in the trap and in prison systems. But I found it. And nan one of mine will ever have to feel the cold tight grip of a handcuff or grace the presence of a jail cell if I can help it. Over my dead body! So if you can’t respect that you ain’t rocking with my movement then Fuck you dog! I know a bunch of mother f*ckers who are…..”
